Article name

[edit]

Is it possable for the name to be changed to 'XY Magazine' with out the () as i dont see any need for the Parentheses. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.44.212.109 (talkcontribs).

The name of the magazine is XY not XY Magazine. So, when the title for this article was originally chosen, it was XY, with (magazine) added in order to disambiguate it from articles on other things called XY. It should probably stay XY (magazine) so people will know that magazine isn't part of XY's name. --Ssbohio 20:29, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Picture of cover

[edit]

Can we get a picture of the actual magazine itself? More content wouldn't be too bad either, I've heard of XY even here in Australia and was hoping to find out more about it, bit wiki seems a little bare on the subject JayKeaton 15:09, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Advertising-free?

[edit]

I see that XY is part of the category 'advertising-free magazine'. Is that really accurate? Their is advertising in the magazine, but it is very limited (and I think mostly from companies closely associated with the publishers of XY). Still, does that disqualify it from being part of this category? Locano 05:41, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anti-Porn

[edit]

What is ment by the "Anti-Porn" statement, it really doesn't make sense in the context of the article.

It was in the original article before I refactored it, and my understanding is that the term refers to the magazine's use of what would otherwise be seen as erotic images without reference to their erotic nature. I see XYfoto as saying "Here is a good-looking guy. He can be good-looking without being pornographic." However, I didn't write it, so the intent of the original author (Birgir Magnusson is really down to him. He doesn't seem to have edited since 19 November 2003, so it may be hard to get his input.
On an unrelated note, might I suggest including ~~~~ at the end of your talk page contributions? This way, the contribution gets marked as to who it's from & when it was made. Normally, I'd respond on your talk page, but I don't know who you are. Thanks for contributing, and I hope you enjoy Wikipedia.--Ssbohio 14:48, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think what it means is that they are arrousing images that aren't porn since they don't include full nudity or sexual acts (most of the pictures are just one person). I'll try and clear it up in the article. Locano 19:09, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Location

[edit]

I've changed the second paragraph (once more) to read "Based in the gay Hillcrest neighborhood of San Diego, California, ..." This time, with a citation to the magazine's address as given on XY.com. Its offices are in my old neighborhood in San Diego. I there other information that points to West Hollywood? If so, let's talk about it here instead of reverting each other. --Ssbohio 03:49, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Some info from xymag.com could be used for this wikipedia article. During some of 2008, the main page at xymag.com was titled "the xy search committee". See 2008 archives at http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.xymag.com --EarthFurst (talk) 04:59, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

timeline

[edit]

Hi y'all , I was wondering if anyone has any objections or concerns about the possibility of adding a timeline view for xy mag to possibly better present the hiatus and sub projects, aag, b mag, and all other xy mag affiliated projects. matt. (talk) 17:55, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
