Hi, I just wanted to say hello, I am new in the editing world of Wikipedia but happy to be here. I read your profile and noticed you teach English, maybe at UdeC? Do you know Pamela Cortés? Untagged Image?

[edit]

Please add a image tag describing the source of the image you uploaded, Image:Concepcion.jpg. If we don't know the source, it may eventually have to be deleted... If you took it yourself, the easiest tag is just to put {{GFDL}} on the Image page. Otherwise, see Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags. Thanks, it's a nice image! JesseW 20:07, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Out of curiosity - don't people in Chile call it "Pino radiata", rather than "Radiata Pine"? (interestingly, for comparison, it is "Pino insigne" or "Pino de Monterrey" in Spain) - MPF 17:04, 29 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:MonumentRodriguez.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stan 05:23, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tri Nations Aggregate

[edit]

Hi Gringo, I just want to clear up the ituation regarding the template. I submitted the champions page to the FLC, and a reviewer suggested that the template should be deleted as it is only in that article. So I went through the steps of nominating it for deletion as the reviewer suggested. But, I then realised it was on the ABs page, and I then saw your message on the main talk page about using it on other pages and how it only has to be updated once. So I removed the deletion tag quickly!! Sorry about that! Hope its all good. Cvene64 11:25, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks I'm glad you like it, another user (from the Featured List Candidate) changed the one on that page, so I though I'd give the colspan look a try on your template as well. Nice work on all the tables in the individual tournaments, the Tri Nations articles are shaping up quite nicely in time for the 06 Series! Cheers. Cvene64 14:45, 26 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. User MILH is really a case study. AfD

[edit]

When you create a Wikipedia:Articles for deletion item, you must tag the article in question with {{subst:AfD}}. -- RHaworth 08:48, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey -- I declined your speedy deletion request here and replaced it with a WP:PROD. Speedy deletion (for {{db-band}} and {{db-bio}}) applies strictly only to articles that don't even explain why the subject should be important. In this case, the band is described as having an album out, and having been on tour, and is described as "popular." That isn't much for a band, but it's enough that the accuracy of those statements could use verifying. We do have WP:BAND, but articles that don't describe how their subject meets that guideline are not necessarily deletable via speedy deletion. Speedy deletion is only for article with no description of importance whatsoever. Mangojuicetalk 13:37, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Manuel Rodriguez.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Manuel Rodriguez.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. Attack pages

[edit]

Howdy! I saw that you tagged an attack page for speedy deletion. The tag you want to use is {{db-attack}}, not {{db-disparage}}. The latter tag is used for templates that are "divisive and inflammatory." Not a big deal, since I zapped it right away, but I thought you'd want to know. Thanks

Here's the info I would like to post:

MTS Driver Recruiters LLC was founded in January of 2000 by Ken Walker (CEO) and Greg Walker (CFO) to meet the growing needs of transportation companies for qualified, commercially licensed truck drivers.

MTS has placed many thousands of drivers throughout the U.S. Clients range from small private fleets to large commercial trucking companies throughout North America.

Untagged image

[edit]

An image you uploaded, Image:ConcepcionCoatofArms.png, was tagged with the {{coatofarms}} copyright tag. This tag was deleted because it does not actually specify the copyright status of the image. The image may need a more accurate copyright tag, or it may need to be deleted. If the image portrays a seal or emblem, it should be tagged as {{seal}}. If you have any questions, ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. -- 11:37, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

In reply to your note, I'm usually around Villarrica. Been around here since '97. Actually I guess I should have put NZ on my list. We made friends with a student Dr. who came to Chile from there to do part of her internship here in the mid '80s. Afterwards she went to practice in northern Australia and it's been a long while since we've heard from her. Which University do you teach at? Do you also hold workshops to understand the NZ accent?  ;-) I think the most fun part of knowing Raewyn (the Dr.) was trying to figure out what she was saying.
What do you think of the Chilean Universities' practice of charging graduates to get a certificate of their degree? I have a daughter graduating and was appaled when I was informed of this. I'd never heard of anything like this in Canada. Do they do anything like that in NZ? --JAXHERE | Talk 12:56, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I rather suspected that you'd be working for San Sebastian. That's the same Uni. which my daughter is graduating from but in Puerto Montt. Well, it's nice to make your acquaintance. We'll probably bump into eachother from time to time ... I am doing a lot of work on chilean articles, too. Hey, yeah I'm going to work on it a little bit. The great thing about this article is that there are many books on the subject, a lot of them publisher last year. I am also looking at the 1981 Springbok Tour and the 1995 Rugby World Cup, however both of those have less resources out there. I'm trying to get a collaboration at WikiProject New Zealand together for the 81 Tour, need more votes though (go here and vote!). Fair use rationale for Image:Colocolo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Colocolo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 17:13, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Colocolo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Colocolo.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:13, 16 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 17:13, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Colocolo.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Colocolo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 07:01, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free use disputed for Image:Colocolo.jpg

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Colocolo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:14, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ken Catchpole

[edit]

A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article Ken Catchpole, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. I've probably got to add one more section on club vs country which I'm going to get done asap, but after that I think she'll be ready to go to FAC. - Shudde talk 02:20, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have now added a section on club versus country. The only other thing I can think to do is better reference the Six Nations Championship section. That won't take very long though. Let me know when you are done copy-editing it. Thanks. - Shudde talk 04:31, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have now nominated it (nomination page here). Thanks a lot for the copy-edit. Makes my life much easier. It's very hard to copy-edit your own writing (its possible, but takes ages). Thanks again. - Shudde talk 02:53, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Colocolo.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Colocolo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 13:33, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please explain?

[edit]

Could you please explain to me why you thought the article Wonderland Resort was spam? I believe that it may help me make the article better. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ben Boldt (talkcontribs) 14:16, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the explanation. I'll do my best to make this article better when I can find some time to do a little research. Ben Boldt 01:27, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings from the League of Copyeditors. Your name is listed on our members page, but we are unsure how many of the people listed there are still active contributors to the League's activities. If you are still interested in participating in the work of the League, please follow the instructions at the members page to add your name to the active members list. Once you have done that, you might want to familiarise yourself with the new requests system, which has replaced the old /proofreading subpage. As the old system is now deprecated, the main efforts of the League should be to clear the substantial backlog which still exists there.
The League's services are in as high demand as ever, as evinced by the increasing backlog on our requests pages, both old and new. While FA and GA reviewers regularly praise the League's contributions to reviewed articles, we remain perennially understaffed. Fulfilling requests to polish the prose of Wikipedia's highest-profile articles is a way that editors can make a very noticeable difference to the appearance of the encyclopedia. On behalf of the League, if you do consider yourself to have left, I hope you will consider rejoining; if you consider yourself inactive, I hope you will consider returning to respond to just one request per week, or as many as you can manage. Merry Christmas and happy editing, The League of Copyeditors.

NZFlag Userbox

[edit]

Kia Ora! I've recently done an update of userboxes relating to NZ Politics. I've noticed several users, including yourself, have included a userbox displaying a desire to change to NZ Flag (a belief I share with you) by including raw code rather than a template. I've used this raw code to create Template:User_NZFlag, so for ease of use feel free to use {{User NZFlag}} instead of the entire raw code. Cheers! =) Gialloneri (talk) 02:36, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SPATRA reactivation

[edit]

Hello GringoInChile, I notice that you were involved in the project Wikipedia:Spanish Translation of the Week a few years ago. However I also notice that here has been very little activity since 2007. This is a project I'm particularly interested in and would love to see it revived. I've taken the bold step of identifying an article requiring translation and I'm in the process of inviting collaboration. The article History of Puerta del Sol could really use your help. In addition, I'd welcome any ideas you may have to help revive this project so that there is greater collaboration among ES>EN translators on en.Wikipedia. I'm identifying various contributors from whom the SPATRA project may benefit. If you have any recommendations then feel free to contact them directly or submit there usernames to me via my talkpage. I look forward to your participation. Gratefully - EagerToddler39 (talk) 02:29, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge ‎ has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:34, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay

[edit]
Golden Bay Air are holding some seats for us until 21 November

Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.

Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.

Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
