Supranational organizations

[edit]

I have remove the templates again. The SCAN is far from being a supranational organization, it has thus been decided that this template belongs on the "economy of..." pages and the SCAN template has long been on the Economy of Venezuela page. Mercosur is even less supranational. Venezuela is only an observer at CARICOM and that organization is in no way considered superior to the Venezuelan government. - SimonP 02:28, May 29, 2005 (UTC)

Please stop readding the template, edit wars across multiple articles are not useful. If you feel the tempalte should stay please discuss it, do not simply continue reverting. Reverting four articles for the same reason can get you blocked just as quickly as reverting a single article four times. - SimonP 13:55, Jun 2, 2005 (UTC)

Blocked for image vandalism

[edit]

You have been blocked for 24 hours for downloading a "comedy" image (specifically, the Michael Jackson police chase on a tricycle image) for insertion into an article, and combining this with the insertion of many paragraphs of bogus text [2] into the article. You should not need a warning to know that this is inappropriate behavior. -- The Anome 09:35, Jun 4, 2005 (UTC)

Adminship

[edit]

Hello, AfC. I saw that you've just been nominated for adminship. I understand that you would like to become an administrator, but I suggest that you withdraw your nomination for now. The vandalism mentioned above is recent enough that it would probably cause a nomination to fail. However, with only 157 edits, it is almost impossible that you would gain adminship—most users don't even consider candidates with counts below 1000. I urge you to withdraw your nomination—it's no fun just getting a bunch of oppose votes. Keep working on Wikipedia, make good edits, don't vandalize, and consider renomination when you have more experience. Please let me know if you have any questions. — Knowledge Seeker 08:24, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)

AfC, would you object to me removing your nomination? If it continues it will just lead to bad feelings. I would be happy to discuss the issues brought up on the nomination page, but leaving it open for others to comment will just lead to hurt, in my opinion. — Knowledge Seeker 09:04, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Very well; I understand your position. I would recommend answering the question first, although typically administrator candidates don't answer the questions in the manner you do; I don't know how long it takes you to write. — Knowledge Seeker 10:22, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Olvera Street image

[edit]

Thanks for letting me know about the possible deletion of Image:Olvera_st_los_angeles.jpg. Unfortunately I am not prepared to relicense the image for unrestricted commercial use, so it looks like it will end up being deleted. --Ngb 08:55, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Image:CunningLinguist.jpg listed for deletion

[edit]

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:CunningLinguist.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in its not being deleted. Thank you. —MetsBot 19:04, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

SoCal Wiki News

[edit]

Since you are in Los Angeles, you might be interested in a couple of bits of SoCal news. One is the first ever SoCal Wiki Meetup planned for Monday, July 25, 2005. For more info, see User:Eric Shalov/Wikimeetup. There is also a newly created Southern California WikiProject and California WikiProject that you might want to take a look at. —Preceding unsigned comment added by BlankVerse (talkcontribs) 01:56, 16 July 2005

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:El Salvador demography.png. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Image:Dubai Metro map.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dubai Metro map.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Chowbok 03:49, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
