Personal information

[edit]

Matt had listed his interests, his favorite musics, his favorite movies and other things in his Myspace page. He also stated that he was influenced by Randy Savage. Should these information be added on his personal life section? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rimara (talkcontribs) 12:51, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. We should put his personal interests in his personal life section as Undertaker does has his personal interests mentioned in his personal life section.--60.51.6.49 (talk) 00:44, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Matthew Moore Hardy is a father. He has two twin girls. Kiersten Hardy, and Kirsten Hardy. Kirsten was adopted by our step dad and he changed her name to Sarah Smith. They were born on September 16, 1997. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kierstenhardy (talkcontribs) 14:28, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fear Factor winner

[edit]

Matt was the winner of WWE Superstar edition of Fear Factor. Should this achievement be added to his Championship & Accomplishment section? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rimara (talkcontribs) 12:59, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No. And it's already mentioned in the "Other Media" section. TJ Spyke 14:57, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
But some other wrestlers do have accomplishments in other fields listed. For example, Mark Henry & his weightlifting accomplishment. --60.51.6.49 (talk) 00:41, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Angelic Diablo?

[edit]

Did Matt Hardy ever actually use this gimmick? I know he proposed it, but I can't recall him ever actually wrestling under it, even as just a nickname. I don't think he went by it while in OMEGA or any of the other indy feds preceding his entry into the WWE, and he was just Matt Hardy during his matches in ROH. So has he ever actually used it? And if he hasn't, should it still be listed under nicknames? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.151.84.17 (talk) 18:28, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

He used it as a nickname in some vignettes he released after his WWE release duh —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.44.89.61 (talk) 11:07, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
But what was the significance of the vignettes? I'm pretty certain he didn't go into ROH with the moniker and I know for sure that he didn't use it upon his WWE return. So if he only used it for those vignettes (and I still don't know what they were for), was its use really significant enough to be mentioned? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.151.84.17 (talk) 16:10, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Broken Hand?

[edit]

Is there anywhere that states it's kayfabe/legit?

81.159.2.53 (talk) 15:29, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Matt posted a blog on his MySpace, here, saying it's legitimately broken in three places. ♥NiciVampireHeart15:42, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

losing streak

[edit]

I think it's worth to mention that Matt Hardy has suffer a losing streak recently... --Rimara (talk) 05:49, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is not important. The article is a summary. We should only note very important things, not losing streaks unless they effect his entire career and lead up to a very important event, such as him winning a title, etc.--WillC 06:16, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Little Mac

[edit]

I just beat Punch-Out Wii, and I saw the Last Stand credits. In the credits, it says that Little Mac was voiced by Matt Hardy. Is it possible that it's this Matt Hardy, or is it another one? --63.3.7.1 (talk) 07:41, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There's a comedian with the same name, IMDb has 2 other people also with the same name. I think WWE or Matt Hardy would have promoted him being in the game. I think it's safe to say it's not this Matt Hardy (not saying it isn't possible, but I don't think it is). TJ Spyke 14:43, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Death of Matt Hardy?

[edit]

User: 86.163.208.75 has made a contreversial edit, it goes like this: "On the 8th of July 2009 Matthew Moore Hardy was found unconsious in his North Carolina home, paramedics attempted resuscitation but Hardy was later pronounced deceased. Cause of death unknown. Autopsy pending." Want to wanna know if that's true or not. If it's true we can make a subpage or section called "The Death of Matt Hardy", if it's not, that sentence should be deleted. Kyrios320 (talk) 12:47, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted, user warned. Bmg916Speak 12:48, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK. Thanks. Now I know that was false. Kyrios320 (talk) 12:51, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

hardy became face when he save his brother Jeff from a attack by Cm punk —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.82.40.116 (talk) 20:53, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That is your opinion, not fact. TJ Spyke 20:56, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
yes it is fact...it happened, thats a face turn, by wrestling standards —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.240.235.135 (talk) 03:41, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No, it's your opinion. TJ Spyke 03:44, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Seeing as this has only happened once we can not use it as fact of a face turn. --Dcheagle (talk) 03:46, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The name of sub-section

[edit]

The name of latest sub-section, Storyline with Jeff should be changed. Matt now just mind his own business and Jeff left because of injuries.--60.51.6.49 (talk) 00:49, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Scare Tactics

[edit]

Matt Hardy will make a guest appearance in Scare Tactics. This is the source.--Rimara (talk) 07:24, 10 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Heart & Soul of Smackdown

[edit]

Does anyone agrees that Matt has new nickname now called "The Heart & Soul of Smackdown"? I heard a commentator called him that.--Rimara (talk) 14:05, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No. First, when has he ever been called that? Also, they have to be called that multiple times to be considered a nickname (being called something only once or twice doesn't make it a nickname). TJ Spyke 15:52, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Since Matt Hardy has turned a Babyface again, Matt Striker has been giving him the nickname: "The Livehood of Smackdown" I heard it three times now since Matt Striker been the CC of smackdown. —Preceding unsigned comment added by WWF20101 (talkcontribs) 01:17, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. I heard Striker called Hardy "something" of Smackdown. But I can't hear clearly whether he called "heart & soul...", "livehood...", "lifeblood..." or what.--Rimara (talk) 13:38, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Until the nickname actually ties into his gimmick, I wouldn't add it to the list. Matt Striker calling him the "Lifeblood of Smackdown" is just a way of saying, "Creative hasn't been able to come up with anything really good for Matt on either of the other brands, so we'll keep putting him back on Smackdown to work at a glorified jobber status, though occasionally getting a push that won't ever be sustained, no matter how significant it may initially appear." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.71.54.116 (talk) 08:32, 24 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

He states on youtube.

[edit]

Matt said that the video was Edited to say that he wanted to leave the WWE, shouldnt that be included? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.75.3.251 (talk) 22:52, 3 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

He states that which video was edited? What did it say originally? And edited by who anyway? NiciVampireHeart 22:59, 3 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not a World Heavyweight Champion

[edit]

Matt Hardy is not a former World Heavyweight Champion. The ECW Championship in the WWE was not a world caliber championship. It was never referred to on WWE programming as a World Heavyweight Championship. I will remove that from the article as it's not correct. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 02:05, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Guess the article about the ECW Championship contains false information then. According to that article it is a world heavyweight championship considered equal to the WWE Championship and World Heavyweight Championship. TNA

[edit]

Can someone change the section from TNA (2011) to Total Non-Stop Action (2011 - Present)? He is in TNA right NOW. 72.70.203.28 (talk) 16:02, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

He was released from tna on 21st august 2011 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.151.169.89 (talk) 13:52, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

He was actually released on August 20. Even if he were still in TNA, adding "-present" to the year 2011 is redundant since 2011 IS the present at the moment. NJZombie (talk) 15:46, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Matt Hardy fake suicide controversy

[edit]

On August 30 2011 Matt Hardy posted a suicide note video on youtube to which the police were called to his brother Jeff Hardys home. I was wondering if his current troubles should be added to his personal life. Recent events include his dui car crash and arrest for being under the influence. His strange under the influence youtube videos involving guns and now this suicide note. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Googamoonga (talkcontribs) 05:00, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Suspension by TNA?

[edit]

Okay, so this has been a reoccurring issue now that some see it fit to add that Matt was reportedly suspended by TNA, keyword being reportedly. While it does appear true, baseless speculation is simply unacceptable by wiki standards, and seeing how often these sites have been wrong, I think its better off to leave as is. Matt said he was taking time off, TNA hasn't said anything about it, therefore with no more official comment that's all we can leave it as. We can't just add things everytime a rumor is started. Oh and Eric Bishoff spoke candidly in an interview about Matt but didn't say anything about any suspension. My thought is that they sent him home and were planning on waiting until he and his brother were both ready to be brought back. Regardless, no speculation should be added Triggafinga (talk) 05:16, 12 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • First, to avoid a possible edit war, this should have been brought here first to discuss or gain consensus before deleting the information in question. Secondly, the statement made on TNA's website on the day of the release stated, "TNA today released IMPACT WRESTLING star Matt Hardy from its roster. Hardy was already under suspension from the company." Doesn't seem to be much question on the official word of TNA there. While the entire post concerning the release has since been removed from TNA's website, there are plenty of legit websites that still contain the quote in articles concerning the release. Two such articles have now been provided as a reference. NJZombie (talk) 06:43, 12 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Fair enough, I hadn't seen those sources til now and they only ones I saw were reports which obviously does not follow Wiki guidelines. Since the official comment didn't mention why, I'll go ahead and change it in the page. Triggafinga (talk) 15:10, 13 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

More pictures

[edit]

There are a lot of images of Matt available to use http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Matt_Hardy and someone needs to add them to make this better. Like in most wrestlers pages every paragraph pretty much has a picture next to it, as long as there are enough in the commons (which for Matt Hardy there is). Like look at Jeff's page. Especially in the section about him being US Champion and Feud with MVP. Thanks 71.185.73.60 (talk) 18:17, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Done. MavsFan28 (talk) 15:29, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not Retired

[edit]

Hardy stated back in January (which is cited in the article already) that he would continue doing events, and he has been booked for several throughout 2012 (the most recent of which are taking place this weekend - http://www.bedofnailz.com/pwsindex.html, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sOuYk0h4DU, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjuM_L2Z3F0). The article should probably be revised to state that Hardy is "semi-retired", as he is not wrestling full-time nor is he contracted with any particular brand, but is still actively involved in the business. Zargabaath 11:05, 4 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with your viewpoint and have edited the article accordingly. I have also added references that prove Hardy wrestled in 2012 on the independent circuit. Starship.paint (talk) 10:44, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I personally saw Matt wrestle last night (May 4,2012) in Rahway NJ & he is not retired. Link to a youtube vid of him last night is below.

I also saw it corrected yesterday & now today it is reverted back to insisting he is retired. Someone seems to have a bug up their ... that he is retired even though proof has been supplied to the contrary. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.68.59.175 (talk) 22:20, 6 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

He and Reby Sky are now engaged. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.155.144.196 (talk) 05:43, 29 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request on 30 July 2012

[edit]

I would like to make a change to the Matt Hardy page as there is a mistake in it, this mistake is the end of Matt's rivalry with his brother Jeff which apparently "culminated in a match at Wrestlemania XXV". This is in fact wrong as their rivalry actually ended with an I Quit match at Backlash 2009. Please may I edit this page to correct this.

", making this the first time the three had been seen together on WWE television since February 2003. Hardy then began a rivalry against Gregory Helms which saw both winning over each other time and time again. Then at No Mercy, in both of their hometown, Cameron, North Carolina, Hardy beat Helms.[76]" That source is incorrect, as the arena for 2003 was in Baltimore, 2004 was in East Rutherford, NJ. If it had taken place in NC, it would have been in Raleigh at the (now named) PNC arena. [1] [2] Optiondisabled (talk) 02:09, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Drug and alcohol issues

[edit]

I'm currently watching the new WWE 24 documentary on Matt Hardy and his brother and it heavily covers his fall from grace due to drug and alcohol abuse and his journey back. According to this documentary, the character of Broken Matt Hardy was heavily influenced by his recovery. Given that he and his brother's issues with substance abuse are so well known, it's really surprising that it's not mentioned in the article at all. It seems a huge omission. I didn't know if someone more familiar with wrestling wanted to work on this or not. ReaderofthePack (。◕‿◕。) 16:45, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Specific comments by nominator

[edit]

Please note that anyone who are willing to improve the article, they should let me know and I will be happy to prolong the process. The following are some of my specific issues:

  • wikilink "gimmicks" on the lead
  • "Hardy was a good student.." NPOV required. Recommend WP:INTEXT attributions otherwise.
  • I would recommend short citations for the books that are referred to multiple times.
  • Too many unreliable sources per WP:PW/RS, especially Online World of Wrestling.
  • Citation needed in some of the following:
-The last paragraph of Early years (1994–1998)
-"As part of the storyline, Hardy continually asked MVP for a shot at the United States Championship but MVP refused stating that he was more focused on the Tag Team Championship."
-"They invoked their rematch clause against Cade and Murdoch at Vengeance: Night of Champions, but were unsuccessful."
-"They competed against The Dudley Boyz and Edge and Christian for the Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 2000 in the first ever Triangle Ladder match, but were unsuccessful."
-"At Unforgiven, The Hardyz defeated Edge and Christian in a steel cage match to win the tag team championship, and successfully retained it the following night on Raw Is War against Edge and Christian in a ladder match."
-"At Backlash he retained the title against Guerrero and Christian in a triple threat, and against Edge the following night on RAW."
-"Hardy defeated Jeff and Lita the following night on RAW in a two-on-one handicap match."
-"After dropping the Cruiserweight Championship, Hardy briefly feuded with Eddie Guerrero, but was unsuccessful in capturing Guerrero's United States Championship or Tag Team Championship."
-"Hardy defeated Kane at Vengeance, but lost a match against Kane at SummerSlam."
-And more"
