Stargate Universe in summary

[edit]

Why is Stargate Universe mentioned so heavily in the Stargate Atlantis summary? Do we really need to know that the Stargate Universe direct to DVD movie has been shelved, on the Atlantis page?? || — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.28.154.109 (talk) 02:43, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Stargate Universe's cancellation is necessary to mention, so as to understand why the movie was cancelled too, but the information about Stargate Universe itself is unnecessary. Will edit accordingly. 2603:6010:F146:7E00:DCAD:1B63:EEDF:8341 (talk) 04:32, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Songs

[edit]

I'm looking for the song Teyla sings during the episode Critical Mass
What's it's name? Where can I find the text of the song? Is it available in CD, MP3, or any downloadable form?

Does this film draw influence from Stargate Atlantis? The title design is very similar, and i believe Cree Summer, a principal actor from Atlantis: The Lost Empire was in this show a few years ago. If this information is infact, correct, could it be worked into the article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.68.64.182 (talk) 21:45, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, considering The Lost Empire was released in 2001 and Stargate Atlantis was only given the go ahead to start production in 2003 (both according to our articles on them, I haven't checked the references), it's unlikely The Lost Empire is based on Stargate. It could be the other way around, but I doubt it. --Tango (talk) 21:54, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Main character looks an awful lot like daniel jackson.....But its not the first time Disney has 'borrowed' ideas from other showsOttawa4ever (talk) 22:26, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think Stargate was the first program to use that idea of an archaeologist, it's a pretty standard stereotype in fiction. --Tango (talk) 22:36, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've just read the article for Atlantis: The Lost Empire... the character you're referring to was inspired by the linguist who was an advisor to that film. Paul Roberton (talk) 06:19, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Plot Section, Season 5

[edit]

There is a lot of nice information here about the actors and actresses who appeared on the show during season 5, but no actual information on the plot itself. This information should probably be moved to another section. If anyone has plot-related information to share, it would be great to see it here. Still no update- I think I may just cut and paste this into the actors section —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.19.176.66 (talk) 13:54, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No colon?

[edit]

Okay, I know that this has been discussed before, but that discussion has been archived.

I know this is nitpicky, but when one listens to the commentary for the episode "The Gift" Peter DeLuise actually spends more than a few moments discussing the colon in the title. LA (T) @ 17:14, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For the most part, I think the most accurate source for this would be the DVD box, which I don't actually own. I'm assuming there's a copyright text in there somewhere where the title is mentioned in plain text, and it seems to me that the copyrighted name is the "most accurate", at least as far as Wikipedia would be concerned. DeLuise is relevant, though. What was the gist of what he said? Jomasecu talk contribs 22:14, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This is the quote, please forgive me if I punctuate this wrong and hopefully I got the full quote right.LA (T) @ 17:17, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"This is Stargate: Atlantis, Stargate colon Atlantis, not to be confused with dash or semi-colon, full colon."

— Peter DeLuise, Audio commentary on "The Gift" speaking to Gary Jones

Fanbase response to series end?

[edit]

What i have heard is unilateral negative response to the series being over, is there actually someone that thinks dropping SGA was a good thing ? - Gunnar Guðvarðarson (My Talk) 09:20, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Im sure the producers have sources that say its a good thing. Ive never seen a source that mentions how fans have said its a good thing or even a bad thing aside from furom talk Ottawa4ever (talk) 20:08, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm... Giving it some thought, I think it's because they: Couldn't decide how the series would be like if Russia declared war on Atlantis (you can only keep fishermen away from the harbour for so long!) Couldn't figure out why Atlantis would be able to continue with the looming threat of Wraith from other universes attacking Earth

Though I'd like to see "meetings" of Dr. McKays and Ronons from every reality and see if they could kick some wraith butt... —Preceding unsigned comment added by TangLab (talkcontribs) 13:21, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Major rewrite - issues

[edit]

Recently, the article was overhauled... I've reverted the changes for now as I think they need to be reviewed first. There are some serious issues with structure, wording, and the like that need to be fixed before we use it. I would suggest that editors review the changes and discuss what works and what does not; we can then incorporate the good parts into the existing article. Thoughts? --Ckatzchatspy 04:39, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Complete DVD Series

[edit]

I didn't know where to put this, but I added the release date of the complete series for the North America, instead of just the UK's release. North America's Amazon.com has the date for October 6th, while the UK's Amazon has it for August 10th. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.198.227.132 (talk) 01:16, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edits Regarding Robert C. Cooper's Alleged IP Theft

[edit]

One user keeps adding unsubstantiated claims that Robert C. Cooper stole some core concepts for SGA from a guy from Vancouver. To that guy (Chris Taylor, current using the IP 24.85.147.254), please STOP. You need to have reliable sources, and that does not include your own blog. If it's true, then go get a lawyer. Wikipedia is not a place to throw allegations without proof. - EndingPop (talk) 23:17, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

UK Airdate

[edit]

I wonder why we care when it aired in the UK since it's a U.S. show. That doesn't make any sense. I'd remove it but I know I'd just be reverted anyway. 174.89.28.225 (talk) 12:44, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That's SG-1, it's Canada for Atlantis. The reason why they are included over US airdates is because the column is called "Original air date", which means when it was first broadcast regardless of which country it comes from. -- Matthew RD 15:07, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

All three of the Series are Canadian but first shown in the United States Canadian tickle monster (talk) 01:03, 30 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

They're not Canadian, only filmed in Canada. The U.S. airdate is the only one that matters. Why not list where it originally aired in every single country in which it is shown? That's just stupid. Pity so few people can see why. 174.89.28.225 (talk) 17:09, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I can see both sides of the issue arising. To nip it in the bud, it doesn't matter who made it, or where it was shot from. What matters is that for reference purposes the air date was different for different countries/ major population groups / hemispheres. There for if you are in the U.S. the episode aired on "X" day and if in UK on "Y". Its not about who is more important or what ever, but more about if the episode aired on this date did it influence a writer who wrote something similar in that same time frame. In such an instance you need to know the exact air date for the region of the author in question. it is not a question of what data is important but what data is relevant. If 80% of the viewers were represented by two primary areas ,and there was deviation in those areas, you can easily see why that data is relevant. This site is a reserve of data. It is not for the people who write on this site to decide what is important data to add to the site but to decide what is relevant data.(and to leave there bias at the door)

Ronon Dex

[edit]

A "Ronin" was a medieval Samurai warrior who had lost his master. Is this worth an entry on the page? Too much like trivia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.136.29.223 (talk) 21:48, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It sounds like original research unless any sources have taken note of it. DonIago (talk) 20:26, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Not Really Canadian

[edit]

A quick check of multiple shows filmed primarily in Vancouver show that only Stargate's wiki lists it as Canadian in origin (Country of Origin). Not the Flash (2014), Not BSG (2004), McGuyver, The Arrow, Smallville, Dark Angel, Vancouver, etc. All of them are listed as Country of Origin: United States. 90% of films tagged "Category:Television_series_produced_in_Vancouver" are American shows, and not listed as Country of Origin: Canada. Shouldn't this be fixed, and remove Canada as Country of Origin for SG-1, SGA, SGU? --63.143.225.22 (talk) 18:17, 25 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@63.143.225.22 Or the other way around, fix it for all those other shows 😁 84.130.193.225 (talk) 14:17, 12 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I believe that they qualified as Canadian productions as far as CanCon goes. Not sure about the others. TheSandDoctor Talk 15:52, 12 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
