Hi! Please talk to me. :)

All right then - welcome back Theresa Knott (Not the skater) 07:07, 30 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Hey there! How's my favorite buck not-so-newbie? Thanks for noticing my 5,000 -- it was only coincidence that I realized it myself (I wanted to update my user page and figure out how long ago I had become a Wikipediholic, as opposed to a Wikipedian. Turns out the dates were about a week apart...and my first edit was exactly 4999 edits previous.....) Catherine\talk 14:45, 30 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Cost of OS

[edit]

I posted a comment at Talk:Comparison_of_web_browsers#Cost_of_OS in regards to my addition to the article that you reverted twice. I'd prefer to change your mind before I revert it again... ~leifHELO 07:37, 4 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Adminship Nominations

[edit]
  • Salve, Func!
I'm in agreement about there being too many candidates and I sent a messa to User:Cecropia seconding his moratorium on new RFA nominations for a few days. One little project I've adopted is to keep the list of candidates at WP:NAC up to date and every time I checked my watchlist today it seemed we had a new candidate to add. This moratorium is in keeping with the progressive idea of the "short ballot". A few days won't hurt anyone. Ave! PedanticallySpeaking 20:03, Nov 9, 2004 (UTC)

You're welcome

[edit]

Well, what would you expect to find on Wikipedia other than people who like random intellectual challenges? Actually, I just thought of a couple more... Isomorphic 20:05, 11 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Hi

[edit]

Your user page intrigues me. I was going to ask why October 31 is equal to December 25... but I suddenly got the joke. That is horrible. X)

Is your micronation open to immigrants? --η♀υωρ 03:39, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Which rank strikes your fancy? :)
P.S. Is your religion open to atheists? ;-) func(talk) 03:51, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)
I think my favorite is Tactical Muse. Maybe with a / tacked on, to judge from RfA... Tactical Muse and Potential Vandal. ^_^
Granting membership to atheists is an interesting quandary. Should that be construed as meaning you disbelieve your own membership? I suppose there can be no harm in adding you, in that case. --η♀υωρ 04:34, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Thanks

[edit]

I just saw your revert: sharp watching! I've placed a very stern warning on that user's talk page. I'm not going to joke around for with this user. - Ta bu shi da yu 03:47, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Heather

[edit]

You're welcome! It's a cute little challenge you put there (we need more of this light-hearted sort of stuff on Wikipedia ... :-) Antandrus 06:07, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Michael Moore

[edit]

It was meant to be a joke, considering John McCain mentioned that word as a preface to "filmmaker" at the 2004 Republican National Convention. It was also a test to see how fast that would be edited. --ExplorerCDT 19:15, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

U.S. embargo against Cuba

You voted for U.S. embargo against Cuba, this week's Collaboration of the week. Please come and help it become a featured-standard article.

Thanks

I really appreciate the "yes" vote on my RFA. As for your difficulty in tearing masking tape, this might help. Cheers, Joyous 23:46, Nov 15, 2004 (UTC)

Women's Names

[edit]

You're welcome. Feel free to delete Mary if so inclined; I wasn't aware Mary and marry were ever pronounced differently. I just added Dolly too. Taco Deposit | Talk-o Deposit 16:39, Nov 17, 2004 (UTC)

[edit]

Salve, Func!
Thanks for your help on the reference desk question I posted in regards to Richard Nixon. I've added some quotes and moved the whole thing to Talk:Richard_Nixon#Richard_Nixon_on_November_22.2C_1963. Ave atque vale! PedanticallySpeaking 16:38, Nov 18, 2004 (UTC)

ArbCom

[edit]

I hadn't thought of the ArbCom. If it is by nomination and you want to nominate me I would have no objection. I hope I would be able to spend the time on it necessary to do it justice. Thanks for the very kind words. -- Cecropia | explains it all ® 21:30, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Hey. :) thanks for the vote of support! and besides, you paid a compliment to God's own earth, how could I not feel proud? :P - Ta bu shi da yu 13:29, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Sorry to bother/spam you, but I thought you might be interested in weighing in on the state of the endorsements page on its talk page. --Michael Snow 01:20, 20 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Computer Humor

Hey, func, you went there with the machete. The article may have been copyvio originally, and obviously those parts should be removed, but I know I have written entire paragraphs myself. dab 08:46, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)

it's ok; the article was crap anyway. I restored my bit to Indus_script/Temp now. dab 14:42, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Your opinion please

What do you think I should do about this Should i revert or leave the page as it is? Theresa Knott (Tart, knees hot) 00:15, 24 Nov 2004 (UTC)

A quick note to say thanks

[edit]

I just wanted to drop you a quick note to thank you for your support in my request for adminship. It was certainly a wild ride, and I really appreciate you taking some time out to contribute. ClockworkSoul 16:27, 24 Nov 2004 (UTC)

You rock

[edit]

I do believe the header says it all. The moment I complete my Wiffle Bat of Awesomeness award (better name pending), you'll get it! :) Keep up the good work. Cheers. Reene (リニ) 01:51, Nov 30, 2004 (UTC)

Notable....

[edit]

...or not? I'm not familiar enough with Usenet to get an idea of how widespread the word Fucktard is, as relating to its explanation. Whenever I've used heard other people using the word, it was as a general insult. The little note on the talk page suggests to me that the author is just playing with the Wiki. I'm this close to VFD, but I don't want to if it is a real word in common use. Opinions? Joyous 02:02, Dec 1, 2004 (UTC)

Thanks. It awaits a VFD-verdict now. Joyous 02:41, Dec 1, 2004 (UTC)
I like the symbol for Lieutenant Administrator. The bit inside the parentheses makes me think of me and my cat, and how she curls up beside my head each night......so she can throw up on my pillow. Joyous 03:44, Dec 1, 2004 (UTC)

Daughters pseudo-rant

[edit]

Saw your pseudo-rant here (actually at the end of the previous section) and a loud bell rang in the back of my head. Is that a quote and if so from whence? It raised the spectre of various well-known Usenet geeks...shudder ;-) --Phil | Talk 16:10, Dec 1, 2004 (UTC)

I came here to compliment your daughters rant at U:Tk/TwdwAmnstc (I'm hoping that abbreviation will stick); Whether or not it was nicked, it had me laughing out loud. Thanks --fvw* 14:19, 2004 Dec 4 (UTC)

RFA candidate

I wanted to drop you a line to thank you for your support in my successful RFA candidacy. It was very gratifying to see the kind remarks posted in the debate. Ave! PedanticallySpeaking 17:35, Dec 21, 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing

[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

programmer joke/computer humour

[edit]

I see you like this, and have a joke you may find amusing!!!

  • How do you keep a programmer in the shower all day?
  • Give him a bottle of shampoo that says "Lather, rinse, repeat."

granted its much better when someone tells you it!!

Khabarovsk

[edit]

Why did you add "POV check" for Khabarovsk? The article seems to be rather neutral. It is good idea to explain such "POV check" labels on articles discussion pages anyway. Maximaximax 08:46, 30 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I recently had a bit of WikiFun. I added 37 suggestions to the talk page. If you don't mind, please look them over. ^_^. -- AllyUnion (talk) 16:33, 13 Feb 2005 (UTC)

If you like your ranking can be a proposal. I already placed it there but its currently commented out untill you aproove it, if not you are welcome to completely remove it. Please keep in touch, thanks. Cat chi? 08:52, 13 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Maybe Katie

[edit]

Salve, Func!
We haven't communicated in a while and I hope this message find you well. Lately I've not fared well with my FAC nominees, some failing to win even one support vote. I wonder if you would look at the Katie Holmes and its nominationhere and offer your comments. PedanticallySpeaking 15:44, Apr 18, 2005 (UTC)

The content of this article is disputed. As a user with some computer language knowledge (of which I have none), I was wondering if you could take a look at it (it's only a few sentences). I wouldn't want to transwiki it unless it's actually true. I'd love it if you could expand it... Thanks a bunch! --Dmcdevit 04:28, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Rank

[edit]

I'm afraid I have to disagree with you on this. We don't know why Hoshi was not promoted. Maybe she did something to get demoted or held back. Maybe she refused the promotion. Who knows? (In fact it opens the door for a good story to be covered by a future novel). And I disagree with your assessment of B&B. I have been a fan and loyal viewer of Trek since 1976 and I have never seen any sign of these guys "destroying" Star Trek. And Berman is responsible for more hours of quality SF TV than anyone else in history (and that includes the guys behind Doctor Who since there was no one producer/writer involved for 16 years with that show). However I have severed ties to the Trek fan community because I'm tired of defending a show I felt is the Rodney Dangerfield of Trek -- a show that just got no respect from anyone. Star Trek is over, it ain't coming back, but I guess a lot of people are happy about that. Sorry, I'm not having a good day either. My feelings about the end of ENT and the finale episode appear to be polar opposites of everyone elses. 23skidoo 02:16, 15 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me for butting in... I'd like to say that Enterprise's writers in the beginning just really screwed up. When they got Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens, that is when the show got good. It become more like the Star Trek that we all knew. The rest of the show felt like Berman trying to write in his own piece of Star Trek History. -- AllyUnion (talk) 17:43, 26 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Star Trek

[edit]

Hi Func, I don't know if you are aware of this, but I'm attempting to rewrite the Star Trek article from stratch. However, it seems I don't have enough knowledge to do so, and the only thing I really can do is some planning of what information should be placed into the article. -- AllyUnion (talk) 17:43, 26 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
