Bunkyo the capital of letters?

[edit]

Does the name "Bunkyo" (lit. "capital of letters") have anything to do with Todai's presence? I've always assumed as such, but I haven't seen any evidence. -- Sekicho 05:27, Apr 13, 2004 (UTC)

It is strongly supposedly, but no evidence. Further information is available at their official site. It combines two notion "education(or humanities)" and "capital(or city) ". But we must remark Todai is not only one educational faculty in this ward at that time, though the most significant. This area, specially Yushima was known already in the Edo period, an academic site thanks to Shoheizaka gakumonjo, later Todai. --Larus.r 06:32, 23 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ouran High School reference

[edit]

"In Bisco Hatori's series, Ouran High School Host Club, Ouran High School is located in the Bunkyo district." is mentioned as a reference, shouldn't this rather belong in the Ouran High School Host Club? I feel very reluctant to create a "In popular culture" list with one item. If no objections are raised I will remove the reference and rely on that it is sufficient to mention this in the Ouran High School Host Club article. -- Dront (talk) 03:03, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dront, I agree, as I wrote at Talk:Shibuya, Tokyo#The World Ends With You. The statement about manga may add to the reader's understanding about the manga, so it may find a home in the article Ouran High School Host Club. On the other hand, the statement does not add to the reader's understanding of Bunkyō, so it does not belong here. Fg2 (talk) 03:33, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There we go again, a recent addition of "Ouran Academy" to list of schools. I have done some quick research and found no supporting evidence for such a school. In fact, the only references I find (and there are tons of them) are to a fictional school in... you are correct, Ouran High School Host Club. Adding it under schools (real ones!) is nothing but misleading and I will proceed with erasing it. --Dront (talk) 13:22, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bunkyo City

[edit]

I notice that the wards of Tokyo are now called 'cities' in signage. Shouldn't there be a mention that Bunkyō-ku is now 'Bunkyo city'?
