Group or form?

[edit]

I don't think things like Cello sonata really belong here -- they are Category:Musical Groups. I think they should be deleted, but I'd like input from other people. Cheers. --bleh fu 04:14, Jan 12, 2005 (UTC)

But a cello sonata is not a musical group, it is a piece featuring cello in sonata form. Hyacinth 21:37, 12 Jan 2005 (UTC)
I see what you mean; perhaps I should rephrase: I think that the form Sonata would be all-inclusive of any instrumental type of sonata, whether violin, cello, etc., and describing the organization of music, not the instrumentation. --bleh fu 02:53, Jan 13, 2005 (UTC)
The correct place to propose the deletion of pages would be Wikipedia:Votes for deletion. There should be directions there, but you will most likely need to list each page you would like deleted, rather than as a group (as here).
That said, I disagree. The current cello sonata article proper contains only three sentences, and serves as an introduction. The bulk of the page is actually a list of cello sonatas. I would propose, at most, that you move the first page to the latter. See: Wikipedia:How to rename (move) a page. Hyacinth 03:12, 13 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Sorry for the confusion -- I only was suggesting that only Category:Musical form be removed from cello sonata and others of its ilk. --bleh fu 04:09, Jan 13, 2005 (UTC)

Points of discussion

[edit]

I don't think that Bimbo (song) fits here as it is a specific song, rather than a musical form. Will delete for the time being.Ck lostsword 17:58, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think we should add Jazz forms as a category and include under it forms like Twelve bar blues and Thirty-two-bar form76.166.177.72 (talk) 18:09, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
