Yep, Image:Cooking pans.jpg is GFDL; I've added the license now. Thanks for pointing it out - I've been trying to go back and add the GFDL notice to all my images. -- Wapcaplet 00:33, 13 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Hi, you asked about the license for Image:Paramecium.jpg. I created the image myself, and would say something like copyrighted free use provided the author is credited, but I'm not sure I technically hold a formal copyright on it. If you have a better understanding, it would be appreciated. Josh 01:24, 14 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Tipiac, the reason I wasn't certain is simply that I don't have a good understanding of how copyrights work. GFDL would probably be fine. Thanks, Josh

metapost

[edit]

Hi Tipac,

In response to your comment on my User talk:AndrewKepert:

Hi, you had uploaded the pic Image:Metapost ex.png without giving the license. We use it on french wp and I'd like to know wether it is GFDL or Public Domain ... Thanks in advance. Tipiac 12:26, 13 Jul 2004 (UTC)

The source for the images is given on the metapost page as a demonstration of ways of coding in Metapost. So if I wanted to be restrictive I guess I should GPL the source code and GFDL the images? I think that this would be an overkill, so I have put a public domain note on them. Andrew Kepert 01:08, 15 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Hi Tipac,

You asked about the Image:US-mo.gif? I believe that I converted that from a file that was already on wikipedia (It was a while back so I'm not certain). I don't remember the name of the image, but I think that is was a large image of the missouri flag and I simply shrunk it down. That's about all I can tell you. Cheers, Sfmontyo 03:44, 16 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Maryland Map

[edit]

You asked about Image:MD Map 200X150.jpg, used in the entry for Maryland. It is from the Tiger map server (tiger.census.gov) at the U.S. Census Bureau with additional coloring by me. I have indicated on the metadata page for the image that it is essentially public domain. (The original image was; if anything I have added would have given it copyrightable status I am abandoning any such claim.)

Rfc1394 01:43, 17 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Yes it is GFDL; it is my own photo. Thanks for asking. Maximus Rex 01:09, 18 Jul 2004 (UTC)

In response to your question about the Soft Drinks image that I uploaded here, yes, I took the picture. If you look closely, you'll see I also smooshed the prices so the picture wouldn't be dated. I have indicated this on the metadata for the image. Rfc1394 16:57, 8 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Licence?

[edit]

I made the Image:Redgreen.png image myself, so it's GFDL. (And also under any other licences deemed appropriate by Wikipedia.)

(For a more serious attempt at making a test, see the images currently at colour blindness.) Κσυπ Cyp   18:15, 13 Aug 2004 (UTC)

video game pictures

[edit]

They came from Jzcool's website, so I assumed that it was okay to use them, but I posted a message on his talk page anyway. He never responded to it, but I think that it's okay to use the pictures. [[User:Mike Storm|MikeStorm]] 02:48, 14 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Amino acids image

[edit]

Hereby released under GFDL; already added note to the image. --Magnus Manske 17:06, Aug 15, 2004 (UTC)

Images by Karen and Greg Johnson

[edit]

I didn't know that more attributions were needed - they weren't when I uploaded the pics... all of our photos are available under this license - {{cc-by-nc}} (free use as long as its noncommercial and the photographer is credited.) I'm trying to find my images to add the licence to them... KJ 08:14, Oct 2, 2004 (UTC)

San Francisco Legion of Honor Image

[edit]

Hi, sorry about not replying to your request on my talk page for such a long time, I've been on an extended wikivaction. All the pictures I've contributed (though there aren't very many) were taken by me or an immediate family member, and were contributed under the assumption that they'd automatically become GFDL, so GFDL it is. Lemming image

[edit]

I uploaded that image 6000 edits ago and don't remember where I got it from. It may have come from the Fish and Wildlife Service but I don't remember. It should probably be deleted, though it'd be much nicer if an alternative could be found. Sarge Baldy 23:23, Nov 1, 2004 (UTC)

Tugela Image

[edit]

The Image:JCW-Map-Natal-Tugela.png and others like it was made by me using Photoshop. I scaned in a map to get the positions of boundaries, towns and rivers ect. The colours ect were all chosen by me. Once a basic map is made I just add in anything I need. There is no copyright because it was made for wikiuse only. When I come across a need in wiki for maps ect I will create one. Why do you ask?--Jcw69 11:57, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Yes you can use it and put the Public Domain Tag on. I am glad that it is getting used. I have to update the map soon because of a spelling mistake "Drakensberg" instead of "Drankensburg". When I do update I will let you know.

Grand Prix diagrams

[edit]

The Grand Prix diagrams I've produced have been made by tracing around an image of the course layout in Corel Draw. I'm not entirely sure where this leaves them from a copyright point of view - the entire content of the image submitted has been created by me, but it is based on the Formula 1 website's track layout. As far as I'm concerned, I'm happy for my work to be GFDL... but if there's an issue on the fact that it's a derivative work...? - MykReeve 22:14, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

License (Image:Fertilisation.jpg)

[edit]

Sorry, I don't remember if I did upload that. I probably did. Can't remember the source either; looked on google image search, but no luck (well, except on the Spanish wikipedia;-) I'll fill in the license if I remember or find the image. --Magnus Manske 15:40, Nov 15, 2004 (UTC)

Trianon

[edit]

Did you find out anything about Trianon? I would like to improve on the image if I can. Nicholas 16:23, 5 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Montreal image

[edit]

It's under GFDL or whatever the kids are calling it these days Earl Andrew 11:14, 6 Dec 2004 (UTC)

By all means use the Ankh image in the French Wiki. Back when I uploaded it, it was generally assumed that all image uploads had to be GDFL or public domain. -- Smerdis of Tlön 02:53, 7 Dec 2004 (UTC)

License ?

[edit]

Hi, Tipiac. Regarding the Image:Ulps000-1.png. I've made it by myself and it should be marked as GFDL. I have also put a template for the license, so there won't be any doubts. Thank you for your notice. Best regards. --XJamRastafire 12:02, 3 Jan 2005 (UTC)
