Trivia

[edit]

Moved 2 facts into different parts of the article. Any suggestions on what to do with the remaining one ? ThisIsAce 07:29, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

July 2007 : Article not neutral

[edit]

This page seems to be a fan or promotional page. They are TV personalities, so I suppose there is an argument for this page surviving, it should have much trivia and puff removed leaving a skeleton. I will leave this comment for a month and if nobody argues, I will carry out an edit. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.241.235.197 (talkcontribs) 10:48, July 25, 2007

Personal lives

[edit]

The article states the grades that both Ant and Dec achieved whilst at school. However the article does not declare which type of exams (e.g. GCSE's, O-Level's etc.) the grades refer to. Satchy 07:39, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism - page protection

[edit]

Due to the persistantly high level of vandalism, I've applied for page protection. If it continues after the block apply again - anyone can do so as long as the vandalism is >5% of edits and from dynamic IP addresses. As a quick example of how to do it, here's my request on Wikipedia:Requests for page protection -

===={{la|Ant & Dec}}====

'''Temporary semi-protection''' 12/26 (46%) of edits have been IP vandalism over the last month. Thanks ~~~~

Lede

[edit]

The opening sentence feels very awkward to me:

Ant & Dec are a British duo of light entertainment television presenters, consisting of Novocastrians (the colloquial terminology for this is "Geordie") Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.

I'd rewrite it thus:

Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, known as Ant & Dec, are a Novocastrian ("Geordie") duo of light entertainment television presenters.

Embedded nicknames

[edit]

Anthony "Ant" McPartlin and Declan "Dec" Donnelly, known collectively as Ant & Dec…

Is it really necessary to embed "Ant" and "Dec" in their real names? It reads clumsily and it is stated in the same line that they are known as Ant & Dec. Would it not be preferable to include their real middle names? Labalius (talk) 02:57, 10 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Image

[edit]

Shouldn't the Image have them on opposite sides?... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kurtle (talkcontribs) 18:05, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Date of birth?

[edit]

Ant's date of birth has a different year on this page to his own - which is correct? Mister pink2 (talk) 21:06, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Just some vandalism earlier today. I have reverted Ant's page as 1975 is correct. Keith D (talk) 23:03, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations to this article

[edit]

Congratulations to this article for pointing out that there appearances differ significantly. I do not think they look like each other, despite all the claims in the media to the contrary. ACEOREVIVED (talk) 14:38, 31 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think that many people think they look similar. Many people don't know who is who because the duo usually appear together. Jim Michael (talk) 16:18, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tabloid rumours

[edit]

I believe that the section of Kelly Brooke claiming that Ant and Dec were the reason for Brooke's omission from the show should be removed from the article as it is clearly tabloid rumour and is not reliable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.126.105.52 (talk) 20:33, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Mnemonic

[edit]

I removed the mnemonic from the opening paragraph as is seems a bit silly...

As a mnemonic, Dec, the shorter one, is closer to the deck.

UKWikiGuy (talk) 19:28, 31 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality

[edit]

They are both British. Declan Donnelly's parents may well be Irish but he is British. (Coachtripfan (talk) 15:23, 6 December 2013 (UTC))[reply]

Agreed. McPartlin's article describes him as British and Donnelly's describes him as English. Both born in England, one with a Scottish surname and one with an Irish surname. How this would make them an "Anglo-Irish" duo defeats me. Amending. danno_uk 00:34, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Image

[edit]

The original images are so bad, in comparison with the new one, which has both Ant & Dec in it and is also it is much clearer, instead of a poor side view.

Let's have a discussion about it...

I vote for the new image File:Ant and Dec in Cardiff Bay.jpg. SethWhales talk 18:49, 3 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

In my honest opinion the previous ones were much more clearer and brighter than one above, Cheers, –Davey2010Talk 19:03, 3 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Please explain how this sentence "I see you have edited Ant & Dec previously, there is a discussion on the Talk Page regarding the main image, i.e. which image best shows the two. Please leave your comments" is canvassing? From WP:CAN "...it is perfectly acceptable to notify other editors of ongoing discussions, provided that it is done with the intent to improve the quality of the discussion by broadening participation to more fully achieve consensus", enough said. SethWhales talk 18:27, 7 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I quickly put together the existing pair of images after the previous image that was on the page was deleted. If there is a better image of the pair that can be used then that is fine by me, the one I cobbled together needs changing to get the images the same size if it is to remain.
