Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RfPP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

User(s) blocked: 2409:4042:4D00:0:0:0:0:0/40 (talk · contribs) blocked by Daniel Case . for a week; this is not the only article they've been creating problems on. I'd also look closely at VolgaDnper1488, who made exactly the same edit and then hasn't edited since (and has that very possible white-supremacist dogwhistle at the end of their username). Daniel Case (talk) 18:36, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: For the past few months and years this page gets vandalized by IP address accounts and I just think this page deserves some protection for that. Whatcha gotta say? :) -ThaFDA (talk) 03:23, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Pending-changes protected for a period of three months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Case (talk) 18:46, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: This article has been subject to vandalism and the addition of information that is not cited by the sources, and any information added is not found in the sources indicated. There is obviously a WP:SOCK hiding under all these accounts. Please block all of these accounts and protect the article because I can't update the article because my edits are always being canceled. Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Srimonbanik2007 socks targetting article. Ravensfire (talk) 12:34, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Recent persistent vandalism (same edits) from similar IPs (IP hopping; continued today even after some ranges were blocked yesterday). Felida97 (talk) 12:53, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Side note: An even larger range, 2003:EE:9F00:0:0:0:0:0/42, was blocked today (after this request was made) but, to be safe, a bit of page protection would probably be a good idea, considering that the multiple previous range blocks (all of which were active when the edits today were made) didn't hinder them enough and the changes frequently include redirects, which obv have quite the drastic impact if the changes go unnoticed even for a short amount of time. Felida97 (talk) 15:55, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Protection needed since the city was recently renames, and users and IPs are making changes in violation of WP:COMMONNAME. Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:24, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Page-move protection is also required. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:52, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Semi-protected for a period of 2 weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Already move protected. Favonian (talk) 18:03, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Untamed1910 (talk) 13:34, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – The capital city Port Blair was recently renamed, which caused IPs and even extended confirmed IDs, who are probably unaware of the WP:COMMONNAME policy to change the name violating the said policy - [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] -. Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:50, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    More edits violating WP:COMMONNAME related to Port Blair name change [8] [9]. Pining @Favonian:. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:12, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Well-intentioned IP editors keep misinterpreting the articles about Peat's death and changing his DoD -- he died from his injuries two weeks after being struck by a car, which they interpret to mean "he died that day and the news broke two weeks later.". — GhostRiver 13:53, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 14:01, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: This marks a significant moment in the history of the Bangladeshi people. It was the first step towards reclaiming control of their country from the hands of what they perceived as the authoritarian rule of Sheikh Hasina. The ‘India Out’ campaign was successful for these reasons, and now many are attempting to falsely claim credit and erase this history. Therefore, it is crucial to make this a semi-protected article to preserve its integrity. Syed Abu Shanjid Rafin (talk) 14:03, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DeclinedPages are not protected preemptively. Elli (talk | contribs) 14:44, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Multiple IP6 addresses appear to be in an edit war where one has a list of the episodes for this TV series and then another IP address changes the article to a REDIRECT page. This has occurred numerous times. Since the timings are days apart, it might be helpful to protect it for a a couple weeks. Thoughts?. — Mr Xaero ☎️ 14:04, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IPs adding non-notable Tom Merriman to staff list. Mvcg66b3r (talk) 14:15, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. GoodnightmushTalk 14:48, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Wiki talk pages are not meant for legal/local campaigns. There's currently happening a lot of disruptive editing on the talk page from a bulk of IPs. ─ Aafī on Mobile (talk) 14:19, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like plenty of issues in the past, but any reason to protect right now? It's been quiet for a week and the SPI has resolved with blocks. GoodnightmushTalk 14:50, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Repeated addition of unsourced information. Proper sources are absent everytime (actually, there was no time when the article had a proper sourcing). Imperial[AFCND] 15:41, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

"On 1 April, seven aid workers from World Central Kitchen, including British, Polish, Australian, and Irish nationals, were killed in an Israeli airstrike south of Deir al-Balah" is incorrect and should be reworded as

"On 1 April, seven aid workers from World Central Kitchen, including a dual US-Canada national, a Palestinian, three British citizens, an Australian, and a Pole, were killed in an Israeli airstrike south of Deir al-Balah" as per [10], [11]. 148.75.59.49 (talk) 23:26, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest adding to 'War Crimes' a section about the Sde Teiman detention camp. The use of concentration/torture camps is a very notable war crime and an important fact as it pertains to the ceasefire negotiations regarding hostage swaps. It is also relevant as many have been taken from Gaza and are being tortured under pretext of "interrogation." Jdftba (talk) 08:36, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
