Welcome

[edit]

Hi, I see you haven't done much on Wikipedia yet but already you're trying to stop vandalism and, I couldn't help noticing, apologising with great grace when you made an error.

Welcome. Please stay, we have good people but we can always find a place for more.

Here's the standard "welcome" spiel. But please click on the "talk" link at the end of this message and ask if you ever need help.

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!

Thanks for your reply. I'm delighted that you're interested in helping. When you make an entry on a talk page, please remember to type "~~~~" at the end in order to leave a signature and timestamp. A refinement of this is to go to your preferences link and edit the content of the field marked "your nickname (for signatures)" so it says "Gurp13]]|[[User talk:Gurp13|Talk" (without the quotes), which will ensure that a "talk" link appears in your signature. People can then reply to you on this user talk page easily by clicking that link. --Tony Sidaway|Talk 10:22, 9 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading Image:KaiserHighSchoolSeal.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. MECUtalk 19:21, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I wasn't making this a guessing game. It is the uploader's responsibility to provide the required information to get the image allowed into Wikipedia. Instead of just fixing the problem, you learned something that likely you wouldn't have if I had just put the logo tag on it. Please don't get upset, there is likely nothing here at Wikipedia to get all wrapped up about. In the end, all of our actions produce a better encyclopedia. Also, see WP:IMAGES on how to use images in Wikipedia. --MECUtalk 22:05, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree I should have pointed you to the list of available tags, especially after the second time. I'm sorry, but thank you for the feedback and I will use this in the future in dealing with situations like this. --MECUtalk 22:21, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:KATSlogo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:KATSlogo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:32, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:KaiserHighSchoolSeal.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:KaiserHighSchoolSeal.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:05, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
