This page vs sarcasm
[edit]1. Tony Martin was clearly joking about Guttenberg playing him in a movie. Tony Martin has made numerous jokes about Guttenberg along the lines of his lack of acting talent and in particular awful NZ accent in Don't Tell Her Its Me. 2. Short Circuit and allegory for the Russian Revolution? Sure that's Guttenberg taking the you know what. Tigerman2005 (talk) 08:30, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
Copyvio
[edit]Most of this article looks like it was lifted directly off the IMDb entry on him. This needs to be corrected. — Frecklefoot | Talk 12:09, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
Six movies grossing more than $100,000,000?
[edit]According to the IMDb (and any other source I can find), the quote "Guttenberg has been the star or co-star in six films that earned over USD$100,000,000 in the United States, a feat accomplished by relatively few actors." is false. Whoever added this also for some reason neglected to specify which six films these are. Please either provide a source or delete. circuitbreaker 12:44, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Adjusted for inflation I found 5: Police Academy $167mil, Police Academy 2 $110mil, 3 Men and a Baby $317mil, 3 Men and a Little Lady $117mil, Cocoon $151mil. So someone just needs to figure out one more...Short Circuit (my favorite from age 12 "only" comes out to something like $80mil) I used http://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl to figure inflation and just truncated the a few digits to work with the $10mil limit lotsotech
Eyebrows?
[edit]I watched Mr. Guttenberg on the television show Law and Order: SVU and it looked like he was covering up having no eyebrows. I searched around on Google but couldn't find any information on this. Can anyone find out anything about this? Did something happen to his eyebrows? Hopefully someone can find a source that can be included into the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.166.18.105 (talk) 19:05, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Polydactylism
[edit]You know, I have a hunch that this entry's claim of Steve Guttenberg's polydactylism is not actually true. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mattymatt (talk • contribs) 06:40, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Unclosed tag
[edit]FYI I just tried to close the tag in the "Early Life" section with a warning on it. Wikipedia won't let me because it says I'm trying to add a link to a blacklisted source. ???Bjones (talk) 21:53, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Bjones: It seems the problem is in the filmreference.com ref. That site is on the spam blacklist and re-closing that ref tag apparently counts as adding the blacklisted link to the article, probably because right now the link isn't rendered in the article (since the malformed ref is replaced by the error text). Daß Wölf 16:27, 8 May 2021 (UTC)
- Ah, I see, thanks. Should we just remove that reference then?Bjones (talk) 03:28, 9 May 2021 (UTC)
- Yeah, I agree. I've had a better look at FilmReference, it appears to be a City-Data-type site for Hollywood and is owned by Advameg, the same company that owns City-Data. FilmReference is listed as unreliable at WP:FILM/R, and the perennial sources list additionally mentions that Advameg content has copyvio problems. While we could ask for a WT:WHITELISTing of this particular link, I don't think it's likely it would be granted.
- The good news is that Guttenberg's FilmReference page cites three 1990s articles in Hollywood periodicals; presumably that's where Advameg got their information from. If we can't find the information cited to this ref elsewhere, it could be worth putting in a request for those articles on WP:RX. Daß Wölf 05:08, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
- I see you've taken care of getting rid of the bad link. Now to (hopefully) find a good source. I didn't know about WP:RX but yeah, that could be worthwhile.Bjones (talk) 01:00, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
- Ah, I see, thanks. Should we just remove that reference then?Bjones (talk) 03:28, 9 May 2021 (UTC)
Splitting proposal
[edit]I propose that sections Filmography be split into a separate page called Steve Guttenberg on screen and stage. This section is large enough to make its own page. Thank you.Filmman3000 (talk) 21:23, 2 January 2022 (UTC)
