How about Trichomonas vaginalis?

I Think the line on parasitic wasps should be modified. It only makes mention one superfamily of parasitic wasps (Ichneumonoidea), when there are actually over 20 superfamily of wasps containing parasitic species. Since the families Ichneumonoidea and Chalcidoidea are the two biggest superfamilies of parasitic Hymenoptera, and obviously we cannot list everything as per the discussion below, I suggest replacing this line by something like: "Parasitoid wasps (some Hymenoptera such as Ichneumonoidea and Chalcidoidea)", and having these 4 terms linked to their specific pages. By the way, you can also make a line on parasitoid Diptera. Following the same format I proposed above, it could be something like: "Parasitoid flies (some Diptera such as Tachinidae and Bombyliidae)". You could also make a mention of "Strepsiptera" (these are usually considered true parasites, not parasitoids) on a separate line. (70.65.149.108 (talk) 00:30, 7 April 2014 (UTC))[reply]

Grounds for Deletion?

[edit]

Is this list seriely going to conain all the the parisitic organisms in the world, and in fiction? This is unrealistic, and will become far to long. This should instead be split into seperate articles such as "Parasitic Fungi", "Parasitic Protists", etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.4.147.150 (talk) 02:09, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll second your suggestion, and nominate this article for deletion as soon as I figure out how to do it appropriately. This would be an almost endless list of prominent creatures in both life-sciences and fiction, and many of the creatures discussed are already described as parasites on their own pages or on theytext565566666666666666666666666666666

Okay - I think I've successfully marked this page for termination, and good riddance. I don't think we need an endless list when most of the things on it are already part of other substantial articles on wikipedia. Worse still, a number of the creatures listed could probably be moved to a discussion of parasitoids instead of parasites, or even that of endosymbionts. This is not a terribly useful article. Fictional split

[edit]

As per the article deletion discussion, fictional parasites have been split off to List of fictional parasitic organisms. --Kickstart70-T-C 02:53, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
