[edit]To the two guys who worked on this: excellent job! I hope you don't mind, but I excerpted some of it to help flesh out the LCVP article. --Jpbrenna 03:24, 11 May 2005 (UTC)
This is all about his landing crafts, nowhere does it ever mention that he he built pleasure craft. His pleasure craft are very spectacular and deserve to be mentioned. Higgins Classic Boat Association --bladeligersx 11:00 PM, November 12, 2007 (EST)
- the speed at which Higgins's many pleasure boats, which were well made, innovative, and fairly good-looking, disappeared from public consciousness should be a warning to any company that thinks it has made it to the top. Anmccaff (talk) 22:09, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
Higgins-as-percentage of the Navy
[edit]"Oh, bullshhhhhit. The source points out, essentially, that a large percentage of all naval craft were Higgins designed in 1943. Those are landing craft, not ships, not all built by Higgins, and 1943 was not)[...the end of the war.]"
The lead was claiming, essentially, that Higgins had built the whole navy, based on the raw numbers of tiny little landing craft made to his design. That’s tendentious writing of the worst sort. Anmccaff (talk) 22:05, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
- Apparently Fox News have picked up that same spin in a current report, blowing the importance of the guy out of all proportion and dubbing him (with a quote apparently borrowed from Eisenhower in a festive speech) "the man who won the war for us". Yeah right... (Edit: Oh wow, that quote was already in the lede, even before Fox picked it up?) ;) 188.150.68.62 (talk) 18:20, 6 June 2019 (UTC)
