Harry Flood Byrd

[edit]

Harry Flood Byrd#National politics says "Although Byrd was never a candidate in a presidential election, he nevertheless received 116,248 votes in the 1956 election." There seems to be no mention here, so one is wrong.--Rumping (talk) 08:57, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Error on Map

The Jones Vote

[edit]

One Electoral Vote went to Jones here, isn't the precedent that any third party Candidate with at least 1 Vote or 5% of the Popular Vote is listed in the Infobox or is there another requirement? 76.227.180.214 (talk) 22:12, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Jones' electoral vote was from a faithless elector. The current standard is that any candidate who wins at least one pledged electoral vote or 5% of the popular vote is listed in the infobox. So Jones does not qualify.--JayJasper (talk) 22:18, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Joe Smith"

[edit]

"At the convention (to select the Republican VP), one delegate voted for a fictitious "Joe Smith" for Vice-President to prevent a unanimous vote." - I think this needs some explanation. The wording implies that there was a legal or constitutional requirement to prevent a unanimous vote, but Googling suggests that it was simply a protest against Nixon by a chap called Terry Carpenter (in which case "voted for etc as a protest against Nixon" would be a better way of putting it). -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 14:46, 15 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Eisenhower's home state

[edit]

Over the past months, Eisenhower's home state has been changed multiple times. According to the National Archives, his home state was New York. This is a more reliable source than uselectionatlas.org, a third party source which claims his home state was Pennsylvania. I hope this answers any questions about the change. -Mad Mismagius (talk) 20:11, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
