Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Category:High Schools in Singapore

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The following discussion comes from Wikipedia:Categories for deletion, where it was resolved with four delete votes, one move, and two keep. The category was merged into Category:Education in Singapore. 22:54, 24 Dec 2004 (UTC)

  • since WikiPedia tries to keep the number of highschools down, this category encourages creation of articles that will inevitably show up on VfD. 132.205.45.110 15:00, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep. Nothing wrong with such a category. JYolkowski 02:42, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • VfD always has deletions on highschools, which by default are not notable. I fail to see how there could be sufficient numbers of highschools in Singapore that could be notable for this category to be useful. Further, someone might make a

highschool hierarchy of categories from its inspiration. 132.205.45.148 17:08, 29 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • IMO should be moved into "schools in singapore" and add primary school and pre-u ed schools too. Frankchn 11:26, 4 Dec 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep somehow. If the proposed reason to delete is that someone might make Category:High schools, the bird has flown. (Part of Category:Schools, part of Category:Academic institutions). My concerns whether this should be merged into Category:Junior colleges in Singapore or junior colleges into it. If an SG "high schools" category remains, it should be titled "High schools in Singapore", no capitalization of "schools." Samaritan 06:21, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete, but on the grounds that random secondary schools are not notable; We really should have a big poll to establish once and for all whether all secondary schools are notable or not. --fvw* 06:32, 2004 Dec 17 (UTC)
  • Delete. There should be an Education in Singapore category to do the job. I agree with FVW, time for some kind of agreement on high schools. -Willmcw 08:55, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. For a start, we call them secondary schools in Singapore. Then there are hardly enough notable schools in Singapore, to say nothing of secondary schools. I agree with Willmcw - these articles should be in an Education in Singapore category.
