Ontario Liberal Party "centre"?

[edit]

I am proposing that we distinguish between the historical and present political position of the Ontario Liberal Party. There seems to be a relatively broad consensus that the OLP historically has been positioned on the "centre" of the political spectrum, however the party's position has shifted to the "centre left" in recent years. I believe that the present and historical ideologies should be distinguished. Humberland (talk) 22:33, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Centre to centre-left is still the best descriptor. There is not a broad consensus anywhere that the Ontario Liberal Party has shifted to an exclusively centre-left party, as even a cursory search still finds sourced that place the position as "centre to centre-left".Mr. No Funny Nickname (talk) 22:30, 6 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Is Ontario Liberal Party « Centre-Left »?

[edit]

I have looked at the platform of the OLP, and it bears a striking resemblance to the the platform of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, which from what I understand is described as « Centre-right ». In addition to this, former Liberal Party leader Steven Del Duca was called « Centre-Right » multiple times over the course of the 2022 provincial election. Would it be a good idea to describe the OLP as « Centre to Centre-Right »? Notanegoist (talk) 13:26, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
