Wondering how to edit this U.S. County Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Counties standards might help.

Prohibition reference removed.

[edit]

I removed the following text from the introductory paragraph: "Buchanan is a prohibition or dry county."

Having grown up in Grundy, VA...and having purchased alcohol in Buchanan County, I can authoritatively state that Buchanana is not a dry county. It does, however, restrict sale of alcoholic beverages on Sunday. This is so typical in the South, however, as to be be unworthy of mention for specific counties.

2008 Election reference removed from opening paragraph

[edit]

I have removed the following from the introductory paragraph. I don't think this information belongs in the opening paragraph and I'm not sure it is relevant to the article. In the 2008 Presidential election, Buchanan County voted for John McCain, the first time the county had voted Republican since 1972. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.62.186.80 (talk) 02:58, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Economy

[edit]

Why is there no "Economy" section? Isn't there extensive coal mining in this county? If so, why aren't the words "coal" or "mining" mentioned a single time in the current version of this article? That's not very encyclopedic. 173.88.246.138 (talk) 15:09, 11 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The cool thing about WP is that if you think something is missing from an article, you can just edit it! If you find reliable sources discussing coal mining, go ahead and add that info :) ULPS (talk) 15:10, 11 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
