Separate article for Luce version of magazine?

[edit]

Today I reverted an edit that had rewritten the lede in such a way as to unduly focus (imho) on the Luce version of the magazine (by which I mean the entire history since Luce acquired it in 1936), and which also possibly strayed into a promotional tone. However, it may be that the Luce version of Life merits a separate article, given its importance, and given the fact that the transition might be better seen as a reboot than a continuity. Granted, the magazine didn't cease publication between the pre-Luce and Luce versions; but it was a drastic change in format, and (at least according to an unsourced assertion in this article) Luce didn't even keep the old subscription list (instead selling it off to a humor magazine). I agree from what I understand, there's no real connection between the two magazines. Luce only bought the publication for its title, "Life." I think that the split is long overdue, especially with the last talks about a split being in 2006 and 2007. I suggest that you propose a split :) Jayediting (talk) 01:08, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, @Jayediting. Ah, yes, I see now in the talk page archives that this has indeed been discussed before. I'm not personally going to wade into it further, but thanks for pointing me to the history. Jcejhay (talk) 11:51, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
