Wow. Could someone with a little more time on their hands please rewrite the "Marley-Toothrot Problem" section? It could certainly use some touching up. -- DynSkeet 21:00, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Taken care of, just forgot to comment here. -DynSkeet (talk) 18:02, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)

Also missing...

[edit]

this article could use some reference to fangame Night of the Hermit (see http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=2880).

Tiny Little Detail

[edit]

I'm not sure where to put this but near the end of The Curse of Monkey Island we see animatronic versions of various characters including H. T. Marley (called simply Captain Marley in the game) and Toothrot. However here Marley and Toothrot look nothing alike, Marley being taller, more muscular and having a brownish-red beard. I'm not here to question the validity of the retcons of Escape, but I'd just like to point out that at least in Curse the developers still considered Marley and Toothrot to be two different characters.

Another Contradiction

[edit]

In Escape from Monkey Island it is considered canon that Guybrush has accidentally sunken his ship in the first game and his crew stranded on Monkey Island. (At least I assume this from what I have read here, since I have only played the first two games.) This contradicts that in Monkey Island II it is revealed that Guybrush has forgotten to rescue Herman Toothrot from Monkey Island, which follows the other ending of The Secret of Monkey Island. (If he sinks the ship he leaves the Island together with Herman.)

  • Trying to make sense of the plot of the MI games always seemed very futile to me since the continuity is quite sloppy. But if anyone wants to try and make sense of it, be my guest. (HM)

No, Herman was rescued by Threepwood and then he went to dinky island. If you talk to herman on that island, he'll tell the story.

The Marley-Toothrot problem

One of them has ane xternal link which can be used as a verification. The rest should be cleaned up. However the discrepancy remains and should be left Pictureuploader

should this page be moved to H.T Marley since its hes real name sailor cuteness-ready for love 20:09, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Escape from Monkey Island Explaination.

[edit]

I have added a brief summary of the events Herman describe in the fourth Monkey Island game, which seems to clearly explain the diary, his deceased friend and the Sea Monkey. This theory is supported by most members of The World of Monkey Island. (www.worldofmi.com) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.174.21.194 (talk) 01:21, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Governor marleys

[edit]

Wasn't the governor marley Lechuck pushed into a whirlpool elaine's father meaning it's possible ozzie pushed the herman toothrot/governor marley/elaine's grandfather into a whirlpool beforehand. Pretty sure it's mentioned somewhere and it explains the amount of years in between. Elaine is governor marley too... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Moonmad (talkcontribs) 16:55, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sunken ship?

[edit]

The article claims that Herman was forced to remain on the island because his ship (the Sea Monkey) sunk, but I remember that the reason was that his crewmate died and he couldn't sail it alone. Also, the "his ship sunk so he trained a bunch of monkeys to sail it to get help" part does not make sense. He came on the Sea Monkey and the monkeys went on the Sea Monkey. I also don't recall any ship debris.LaukkuTheGreit (talk) 20:30, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is the cannon and the spyglass in Herman's "home", but it's not directly said they came from the ship. However, the rowboat you use has the name "Sea Monkey" on it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.255.171.220 (talk) 11:48, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
