Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page

    Because You Loved Me

Reason: Would like this page to be WP:SEMIPROTECTED. There are persistent overlinking of same duplicated audio youtube link & irrelevant video link by 95.248.88.77, which there were ongoing for more than a year (eg 1163401562) for more than a year different anon IPs coming from same ISP, same country and all are from same region of the same country. Most of the WP:ELNO WP:OVERLINK are Celine Dion songs, though there are some other songs too. An ANI report had been lodged at WP:ANI#95.248.88.77 Persistent overlink duplicates and irrelevant links. --- Cat12zu3 (talk) 08:40, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Greek football clubs in European competitions

Reason: Worked a lot on this page, Persistent disruptive editing by IP users like 2A02:586:813D:2A91:34D3:B3E2:D518:C390 who continuously revert edits and use language like your reasoning is ridiculous. Abudabanas (talk) 09:43, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Content dispute. Please use the article's talk page or other forms of dispute resolution. Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 16:39, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent disruptive editing from various IPs. FromCzech (talk) 12:53, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Sambhaji Raje

Reason: High level of vandalism expected because of recent controversies surrounding him Quabizabdul (talk) 13:20, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DeclinedPages are not protected preemptively. Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 15:56, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Talk:Speech synthesis

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – For some reason, this talk page has long been a target for irrelevant entries by IP users, as is evident from the long trail of "Reverted" edits in the history. From my scan of the page, the last legitimate IP user contribution appeared on the page in 2018, then a couple in 2015 (both from the same address), then you have to go back to 2009 to find any. Largoplazo (talk) 16:01, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Was the talk page ever protected before? if not, then indefinate protection would not be a good idea. 74.14.6.233 (talk) 18:03, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It has been protected repeatedly – six times, to be precise. Favonian (talk) 18:38, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Everything Everywhere All at Once

Reason: IP edit war going on for a few days now Aszx5000 (talk) 17:48, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    John Mannion (American politician)

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Long history of undisclosed COI (sock SPAs) disruptive editing, edit warring, content removal, etc. See talk page and page history. Also COIN discussion. C F A 💬 18:19, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Toni Storm

Indefinite semi-protection: BLP policy violations – Addition of unsourced real/legal name by IP users. They change her last name frequently without providing a reliable BLP source. Mann Mann (talk) 18:54, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Sonya Deville

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Unsourced edits by IP users and replacing sourced text with unsourced wording. Mann Mann (talk) 19:08, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Fake Shark

Reason: Frequently destructive edits that seem to be intent on erasing any information relating to the band's history and work prior to their 2015 name change, possibly with a conflict of interest. Both Users and IPs have done this. These edits also violate neutrality policies. Sparkysilverfish (talk) 20:11, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Chitral

Reason: The protection is no longer necessary because we want to edit this page for adding more information and there are several mistakes which needed to be correct like chitral town area size is 35.9 km[1] . 103.19.48.102 (talk) 18:06, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This does not address the fact the article has a very long history of sockpuppetry that has waited out time-limited semi-protections. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 18:08, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
