Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to 8 external links on Saddam Hussein. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Ad Nauseam, not Nasuem

[edit]

"...which stages the story ad nasuem..." is incorrect; the term is "ad nauseam." If the word is misspelled in the passage being quoted, there should be a [sic] after "nasuem." ~~Mpaniello~~

citations needed

[edit]

"Hussein's rule was a repressive dictatorship[12] notorious for it's human rights abuses." You cite that he was a dictator but not that he was notorious for human rights abuses. While it may seem obvious (sic) to westerners it needs a solid citation. -thanks

"Saddam… Saddam… Saddam…"?

[edit]

1. Saddam was his given name, right, and Hussein his surname? Then why is he referred to throughout the article as "Saddam"? Isn't that like referring to Mussolini as "Benito"?
2. Why must his name (whether it's "Saddam" or "Hussein") be repeated over and over in the same paragraph, when it's clear the subject is being referred to? It looks so amateurish. Unless there's a chance of ambiguity, why not utilize the perfectly adequate pronoun "he"? Are we worried that WP readers may be suffering from short-term memory loss? 2001:569:72B0:D900:4CDD:757B:6063:369E (talk) 00:01, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your first question, Hussein is not his surname but rather his father's name, this aligns with Wikipedia's Arabic naming conventions documented here. – Anwon (talk) 01:29, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
