Mineral water

[edit]

Isn't La Croix also a brand of mineral water?

It is, and I believe that it's headquarters (and probably most of its distribution area) are in Texas. The ARK 03:44, Apr 21, 2005 (UTC)

AFP reporting

[edit]

Much of La Croix's reporting on political and ecclesiatical affairs is done with the help of the Agence France-Presse. Since the AFP is far from being a Christian press agency, the newspaper is often filled with journalistic content that is deeply critical of the Roman Catholic Church in general and of conservative social and political views in particular. ADM (talk) 15:25, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

French Catholicism is in general very liberal and very modernizing, to an extent that can be surprising (offputting?) to Catholics from other countries. I don't think that AFP is entirely to blame for these stances. --194.98.58.121 (talk) 11:49, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Vampire

[edit]

"LaCroix is also the name of a Vampire in the video game Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines."

I have removed the Triva section containing the above because it is completely irrelevent. LaCroix and La Croix are the name of lots of things. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.195.77.105 (talk) 04:51, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Why do we claim that La Croix is linked with the founding of Catholic Action, which seems to have been a mostly conservative organization that was set up in other countries in the 19th century? I think the actual connection may be with the French entity Action Catholique, which is more recent and later became associated with a liberation theology viewpoint. Dreyfus Affair

[edit]

Is this is the same periodical that was ferociously anti-Semitic in the 1890s and wanted the Jews "booted out of France"? Does anyone have any information on the subject?Campolongo (talk) 17:57, 11 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Dreyfus Affair

[edit]

There should be no talks of this affair. I am sorry but it is not even relevant to the paper itself. The mentioning of this affair brings up negative ties to the paper. Thus, creating a bias negative presence. I am sure no one did not mean to add it to create bias talks. They simply added to add information about La Criox. I just think the affair itself could have been avoided. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jmmonty16 (talkcontribs) 05:50, 18 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The Iraq war and the firing of Alain Hertoghe ~~ jmmonty16

[edit]

This whole section should nicely get deleted. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. It is not a place for gossip and hot news. Yes, it relates to the paper, but it does not give legitimate facts pertaining to the paper. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jmmonty16 (talkcontribs) 05:54, 18 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The section should stay, but actually say something. I had to Google Hertoghe myself to find out what the hell he was accused of. As written, the section - which is relevant, as is the paper's participation in the Dreyfus Affair - is literally pointless. (Could be worse; the French entry doesn't even mention the Hertoghe matter.) Laodah 20:00, 21 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

– Based on Google results, pageviews (7,800 drink vs. 1,500 newspaper), and wikinav (48% of inbounds are from search results, 63% of outbounds are to the drink and 18% are to the Lacroix DAB), it does not appear that the French newspaper La Croix is the primary meaning of that phrase in English. However, the newspaper has been around 142 years, and it might be premature to say that the drink is decisively the primary topic. So I propose the following:

  1. Move La Croix to La Croix (newspaper).
  2. Move Lacroix—which already has more La Croix entries than Lacroix ones—to La Croix.
  3. Restructure the DAB in the two-tier method used on some DABs like George Bush:
Proposed DAB structure

La Croix primarily refers to:

La Croix or Lacroix may also refer to: ...
