Wondering how to edit this U.S. County Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Counties standards might help.

Prohibition

[edit]

"taxes on alcohol consumed within the county go to other counties." - that's not the point of being a dry county... it is illegal to consume alcohol on the reservation at all. -- unsigned by 156.33.81.147 at 15:51, 11 August 2006.

This should be fixed also in List of dry communities by U.S. state#South_Dakota. --BjKa (talk) 08:49, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Consulting the map at "dry county", this county seems to be the only dry county in SD, and the only county with total prohibition of alcoholic beverages north of Kansas. I find this quite noteworthy and think it should be mentioned in the article. Unfortunately said map mentions no sources for SD's counties. --BjKa (talk) 08:49, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Politics Section

[edit]

The politics section has a long, opaque screed sourced only with a reference to some political discussion board. I'm no expert here, but is that appropriate for Wikipedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.183.181.124 (talk) 13:03, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Life expectancy

[edit]

The life expectancy for Oglala Lakota County is said to be 66. But the life expectancy for Pine Ridge Indian Reservation is listed as 48 and 52 (in 2007). This is a very wide disparity.Naddruf (talk) 16:02, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
