I did a brief google on the subject, and found the only references to compulsory Irish for the NUI in 1910 were from chronologies (probably descendents or ancestors of this one). A well-informed article on the language at http://www.spellingsociety.org/journals/j22/irish.html suggests rather that Irish became an accepted subject for matriculation, not a compulsory one. Break up

I want to break up this article into a series of articles dealing with each decade "Ireland in the 19XXs", for instance "Ireland in the 1900s" and such, as it is quite a large list of topics - any ideas? Djegan 19:27, 16 Jul 2004 (UTC)
