Neat stuff

[edit]

Someone has fleshed out this entry since I last looked at it, and added some great detail. Please use in-line sources and footnote these great contributions. This article has some real potential now. Regards, MarmadukePercy (talk) 12:24, 11 February 2009 (UTC).[reply]

I added the information from the Moravian Journals that her Cherokee name was "Chiconehla". I don't know how to set up the reference notes using the Wikipedia format. (Occonpstota) (207.245.188.95 (talk) 13:12, 7 July 2009 (UTC)).[reply]

Not colonial

[edit]

Colonial implies at some level being under the power of a foriegn authorit. Nanvcy Ward never recognied auhority beyond the Cherokees. He should not be classed as colonial. Her father may have been of European descent (although this is disputed) and her husband may have been European, but this no more made her European than any other out marriage. She lived in Cherokee land, in a place under Cherokee government. She was not within the direct area of British control.John Pack Lambert (talk) 23:08, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is one of a number of discussions (started by John Pack Lambert) that are forked from Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2012 November 16#Category:Tennessee colonial people. Rather than conduct discussions of this topic in a dozen different places, let's have just one discussion. Please continue the discussion at the WP:CFD page. --Orlady (talk) 06:07, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Kingfisher in Cherokee is not Tsu-la that is the word for Red Fox. The word for Kingfisher in Cherokee is Chv-tlo. Dhanren7 (talk) 07:20, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
