There are a huge number of articles that link to various "Gnome-Rhone xxx" engines. I have made the links in this article with the more proper Gnome-Rhône. However I am having second thoughts about this, as it might mean making far more changes.

Suggestions?

The French version of this article is available on the wiki, taken largely from the snecma web pages. In fact these pages contain a number of errors, including dates for some of the early history. Amusing or sad, depending how you look at it.

Rotary engine versus Radial engine

[edit]

Somebody should work into the WW 1 portion (or other appropiate section) of this article the mechanics of the Rotary engine as an engine which has the crankshaft being stationary and the complete engine including the exposed and air cooled cylinders and attched propeller rotate around the crankshaft. I would think that many people might confuse this now rare and obsolete, but historically important Rotary engine with the similar appearing and very common Radial engine. I'm not trying to overburden this article with too much detail, but some reference has to be made which emphasizes the importance and uniqueness of this engine. --TGC55 (talk) 14:21, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
