From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hello. I'm Liam Proven, a British technical writer, living in the Czech Republic. For more information about me, rather than duplicate it here, I suggest you visit my blog or LinkedIn profile - links at the bottom of this page.

I was enticed into writing for Wikipedia (as opposed to merely using it for reference) in 2003 by User:David_Gerard and alongside David I also know a number of other Wikipedians in real life, such as User:Sheridan.

2018 update -- I retired from writing for Wikipedia a decade ago since I was unjustly and unfairly attacked by User:Yamla. I have also had a number of carefully researched and referenced articles deleted. I disagree with the governance of Wikipedia these days, especially the power of deletionists, so I now do no more than an occasional bit of copy-editing. Until someone cracks down hard on the sort of petty Jobsworths who make this place a misery, I will no longer write new material for it. Liam Proven (talk) 11:54, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

The latest pain-in-the-neck editor to pointlessly remove a few links, and then silently hide my attempt to talk to them, is user:tedickey. This is an example of the sort of user who makes it so unpleasant to attempt to contribute to Wikipedia. Hostile, corrupt, uncommunicative, and censors attempts at dialogue. I am also much amused to note (5 May '09) that an article of mine is cited as a reference in the article AmigaOS versions.

In the closest thing to Wikipedia commentary I am likely to make for the nonce, I would ask passing readers to note that this bio is entirely devoid of stars, badges or other little blazons and logos proclaiming membership of various factions of Wikipedians. I would also note that it contains my real-world identity and contact details. I feel that these are a sine qua non for anyone who would wish their authorship to be taken seriously.

In a vague attempt to keep track, I note that -- in addition to contributions to many others, some quite lengthy -- to the best of my recollection I am the original author of the following articles, in no particular order:
